CPS ENERGY’S GRILLSGIVING WILL SHOW WHY SAN ANTONIO IS THE BBQ COOK-OFF CAPITAL WHILE SUPPORTING FAMILIES IN NEED

6th year BBQ Cook-Off is a fundraiser for the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP)

November 15, 2022 (SAN ANTONIO) – Tender, tasty meat off the pit, live music and plenty of family fun awaits attendees as CPS Energy holds GrillsGiving: A Celebration of Meat and Music on Saturday, November 19 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Mission County Park. GrillsGiving is a large barbecue competition and music event, donating the net proceeds to the Residential Energy Assistance Partnership (REAP) program to help families in need pay their energy bills.

Rain or shine, close to 30 grill teams, including 16 from CPS Energy, will start setting up on Friday, November 18 and then fire up pits to compete for awards in best of chicken, ribs, and brisket on Saturday. A group of 100 judges will select the top teams, while attendees will vote for the coveted People’s Choice honors.

GrillsGiving is a community-wide and family-friendly event, drawing BBQ enthusiasts and families from all over San Antonio. Tickets can be purchased online at cpsenergy.com/grillsgiving or on event day at the gate at Mission County Park, 6030 Padre Drive. General admission tickets range from $10 to $25 per person, and kids under 12 get in free. Parking is free for all attendees.

Launched in 2014, the meat and music fest is now a tradition held the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The event is returning after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since its inception, GrillsGiving has raised close to $200,000 for REAP while offering the community a fun event true to San Antonio’s City of Gastronomy designation and recent ranking as the Cook-Off Capital and best BBQ city.
