TWO CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ON OVERHEAD ELECTRIC LINES REQUIRE SUNDAY LANE CLOSURES  

Road closure at Culebra Road & NW Loop 410 and Vista Valley & SW Loop 410 are scheduled to improve electric reliability on the northwest and southwest side of San Antonio 

August 25, 2023 (SAN ANTONIO) – CPS Energy is working to improve the quality and safety of aging electrical lines on the northwest side of the city at Culebra Road and NW Loop 410.  as well as the southwest side of the city at Vista Valley and SW Loop 410.  

The Culebra Road Project will consist of installing a new overhead primary line across NW Loop 410, causing a road closure and signal lights to be turned off under NW Loop 410 at Culebra Road. The work will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.  

CPS Energy contractor crews will be working on both sides of the highway resulting in lane closures. Blue Shield will provide traffic control on NW Loop 410 which will consist of six rolling traffic stops lasting about 15 minutes each. Traffic will be directed crossing Culebra Road and will include the turning lanes.   

The Vista Valley Project will consist of the removal and installation of new overhead lines that cross SW Loop 410, causing a road closure on both sides of the highway and access/frontage roads. The work will take place on Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 5:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., no outages are expected due to this closure. Blue Armor officers will be providing traffic control during the hours of the lane closure.  

Drivers are asked to find alternative routes and avoid the areas, if possible. CPS Energy reminds drivers to Move Over or Slow Down, per State law, for crew and driver safety.
