CPS ENERGY TRANSMISSION LINE UPGRADE REQUIRES CONSECUTIVE SUNDAYS OF LANE CLOSURES

Intermittent lane closures at Hwy 90 & Cagnon Rd. will occur on Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and Feb. 19 to better serve the west and near the southwest area of San Antonio

UPDATE AS OF FEBRUARY 8, 2023, 12:35 P.M.

February 3, 2023 (SAN ANTONIO) – CPS Energy is working to improve service reliability in the continuously growing west and southwest area of San Antonio. The utility will replace four miles of transmission lines at Highway 90 and Cagnon Road over the next three Sundays.

For safety precautions, intermittent lane closures will be needed at the Hwy 90 intersection at Cagnon Road on Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and Feb. 19, 2023. The remaining lane closures will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Feb. 12. 2023 and from 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2023. A significant stretch of highway may need to be shut down as the transmission lines are put in place. Both east and westbound lanes will be closed during these intermittent lane closures.   Drivers in the area should seek alternate routes or anticipate traffic delays. Traffic control will be provided. Drivers are also reminded to Move Over or Slow Down, per State law, for crews and driver safety.

The project will better serve an area that has seen an increase of  94,766 residents between 2000 and 2021, according to the U.S Census. The increased population is about the size of the city of New Braunfels.
