Simple recycling effort makes huge impact to protect our environment

Today is Earth Day and we’re proud to do our part to protect the environment of the community we love and serve. In fact, it’s one of our top priorities!

We work to keep our air and water clean and recycle as much as we can. Simple actions like recycling old, outdated mobile phones that have met their life cycle can go a long way toward benefiting the environment.

Art Zavala, Multimedia Tech, helps a customer replace and recycle an old, outdated mobile phone. Mobile recycling efforts benefit the environment by reducing eWaste.

Just ask Leewan Torres, a desktop & mobile support specialist. Each day, his team replaces at least two cell phones and sets them aside for recycling. After collecting 100 phones, he sends them off to our business partner, e-Cycle. Recently, he learned just how much our recycling made a difference last year. Check out the graphic below:

“It feels good that we’re making a positive impact on the environment,” said Leewan, who has 11 years of service at our company. “I’m glad we have an outlet for properly recycling these phones. I had no idea it was making that much of a difference.”

e-Cycle is helping us reduce e-waste to save energy and greenhouse emissions. We’re also keeping toxins such as lead, zinc, mercury and flame retardants from polluting our landfills and drinking water. We began our partnership with the company in 2012 and have recycled more than 10,000 devices since then. This is the lifetime impact of our partnership:
