SAN ANTONIO CITY COUNCIL CONFIRMS CPS ENERGY BOARD OF TRUSTEES NOMINEE FOR SOUTHWEST QUADRANT

San Antonio, Texas – (January 31, 2019) – The San Antonio City Council today confirmed the nomination of Janie Martinez Gonzalez to the CPS Energy Board of Trustees, representing the Southwest Quadrant. After a previous vote by the CPS Energy Board, Gonzalez’s name was submitted to the City Council by Mayor Ron Nirenberg.

“Because of her leadership skills, drive and experience, Ms. Gonzalez is going to be a wonderful addition to our Board of Trustees,” said Board Chair John Steen. “We’re most appreciative of her commitment to serve in this way. We’re really looking forward to working with her.”

“I’m honored to join the CPS Energy Board of Trustees,” said newly appointed Trustee Janie Gonzalez. “This appointment allows me to continue to give back to my community through meaningful public engagement, transparency and a sustainable city without compromising the ability of existing and future generations to experience the same.”

Gonzalez will attend her first board meeting on February 18, 2019. She has had a long career in technology as the President and CEO of Webhead, a company that specializes in providing cybersecurity solutions to clients across the nation. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and has done post-graduate work at the University of the Incarnate Word. She is also a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School of Business Community Advancement Program and Palo Alto College.

San Antonio is experiencing significant economic growth and affordable, reliable electricity and gas service is an integral component of that growth, to benefit both residential and commercial customers. Gonzalez will serve to help the city continue economic growth and residential benefits.
