VIDEO: Local quarry rocks with energy savings
If an active quarry can reduce energy consumption and reap the benefits, any company can do the same.
Hanson Aggregates, just north of San Antonio, produces crushed rock, sand and gravel and other building materials. The company strives to be environmentally conscious when it comes to energy and water use.
Hanson has participated in CPS Energy’s Demand Response program since 2010, and its commitment continues to pay off. Last year, Hanson received a check from CPS Energy for more than $385,000 for reducing energy consumption in their daily operation, especially during periods of high energy demand.
