This “hobby” could save you $150 and more

Did you know that former Spurs player Tim Duncan’s hobby is to play Dungeon and Dragons? Me…I like to collect LEAFS! Not the kind you find on a tree, but Nest Learning Thermostat leafs you earn monthly when you choose energy saving temperatures for your home. And, because I own a Wi-Fi programmable thermostat I also qualify for a $150 CPS Energy bill credit! How cool is that?

For the energy conscious consumer, a Wi-Fi thermostat is the perfect way to compete with yourself every month, and earn bragging rights to share with your friends.

Stores are stocked with numerous models of Wi-Fi thermostats. Examples include the ecobee 4, Nest, or the Emerson Sensi — all aimed at helping you save energy and money. Each one offers a feature (like controlling your temperature from your smartphone) that help manage your heating and cooling costs.

Now, back to that $150 I mentioned earlier. Until January 31, 2018 you can receive a $150 bill credit from CPS Energy when you purchase (or already own) a qualifying Wi-Fi thermostat, install it and enroll in the My Thermostat Rewards program.

This bill credit equals awesome savings for you! For example, the Nest Learning Thermostat sells for $249. Enroll in My Thermostat Rewards by January 31 and get a $150 bill credit. Basically making your thermostat only $99. If you purchase the Nest Thermostat E ($169) and enroll in My Thermostat Rewards, the total cost comes out to $19!

Additionally, My Thermostat Rewards participants earn an annual $30 bill credit (usually in the fall) for every year they stay on the program. That’s a deal you can’t pass up!

“We’re excited to offer this special deal for a third holiday season to our customers. An offer like this gives our customers an immediate return on investment,” says Justin Chamberlain, Energy Efficiency & Demand Response Manager at CPS Energy. “Even customers who already own a qualifying Wi-Fi thermostat are eligible for the $150 bill credit. Everyone wins.”

For a list of qualifying thermostats, and to get your $150 bill credit visit cpsenergy.com/mythermostatrewards.

I took advantage of the deal, and have saved lots of leafs (translating to saving energy and money!) It’s your turn now. Who knows…maybe I’ll convince Tim Duncan to compete in collecting leafs too?

Happy saving!
