Customers invited to CPS Energy’s Community Programs Fair this Saturday

CPS Energy will offer customers help to lower energy bills and apply for assistance programs at a Community Programs Fair this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Antioch Sports Complex, 314 Eross St.

Customers will get an opportunity to apply onsite for programs like Casa Verde, which offers qualifying customers an average of $5,000 of free insulation and other energy-saving improvements that help reduce monthly energy bills.

“Assistance programs like Casa Verde help customers save money while making their homes more comfortable and energy efficient,” said Maria Garcia, Vice President of Community Engagement. “Most of the improvements, like attic insulation, are invisible to the customer but the bottom line savings on the bill is highly visible, and can free up money for other needs.”

“My house is so comfortable now. It stays cool in the summer and keeps me warm in the winter,” said Carolyn Reed. “I was paying close to $200 in the summer, but now I’m paying about half as much. This program is such a blessing.”

The Casa Verde program weatherized Reed’s eastside home last year after she applied at a CPS Energy event.

“The residents of District 2 have looked forward to this event,” said District 2 Councilman Keith Toney. “Many homes in our community will benefit from the energy efficiency services that CPS Energy offers.”

Nine other community partners, including the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB), will join CPS Energy Saturday to provide FREE giveaways and registration for community services.

“Having the opportunity to participate in large scale community events with great community partners allows the Food Bank to reach the community in ways we cannot do alone,” said SAFB President & CEO Eric Cooper. “Knowledge is power and having the opportunity to educate the community about the many services we offer, helps the San Antonio Food Bank empower our community.  This helps us achieve our mission to fight hunger and feed hope.”
