CPS ENERGY OFFICES CLOSED MEMORIAL DAY; ENERGY STAR SALES TAX HOLIDAY BEGINS SATURDAY

May 26, 2022 (SAN ANTONIO) – CPS Energy’s offices, customer service centers, and the call center will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022. Offices will reopen Tuesday, May 31, with customer payment centers resuming operations at 7:45 a.m.

During the holiday, customers can report natural gas or electric emergencies by calling 210-353-HELP (4357) or 1-800-870-1006 anytime. Online services may be conveniently accessed through Manage My Account at cpsenergy.com anytime, including holidays. By using Manage My Account, customers can take care of the following services:

  • start/stop/transfer service,
  • make payment arrangements,
  • set up a payment plan, and
  • update contact info and mailing address, and other options.

The Memorial Day weekend also marks the annual Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday, which starts on Saturday, May 28 and ends at midnight on Monday, May 30. The following list of appliances and household equipment will be tax-free, whether buying, renting or leasing the qualifying ENERGY STAR-labeled items:  

  • Air conditioners (with a sales price of $6,000 or less)
  • Refrigerators (with a sales price of $2,000 or less)
  • Ceiling fans
  • Incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs
  • Clothes washers
  • Dishwashers
  • Dehumidifiers

There is no limit on the number of qualifying items or need to supply an exemption certificate to purchase items tax-free.

CPS Energy encourages customers to take advantage of the Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday to save money on their purchase and potentially on their energy bills by increasing their energy efficiency. For more information about the sales tax holiday, click here.
