CPS Energy invites customers to join and participate in Tele-Town Hall Series

Interactive event connects leadership and customers for engaging conversation and surveys on pre-rate increase consideration period

October 5, 2021 (SAN ANTONIO) – CPS Energy invites customers to virtually attend a tele-town hall on Tuesday, Oct. 5 from 7 – 8 p.m. The event will feature CPS Energy’s President & CEO, Paula Gold-Williams, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Treasurer, Cory Kuchinsky, and Chief Customer & Stakeholder Engagement Officer (CC&SEO), Rudy Garza.

As Greater San Antonio’s energy provider, CPS Energy has gone eight (8) years without a rate increase, while prudently reducing its costs by $906 million over the past decade. CPS Energy is currently in a “Pre-Rate Increase Consideration Period” / “Período de Consideración Antes del Aumento de la Tarifa.”  The focus of this time is to provide San Antonio with preliminary information about the primary drivers for a potential rate increase. Integral to this effort, CPS Energy is launching a new tele-town hall engagement series that will inform these important conversations.

“We made a commitment to our customers that we won’t ask them for one dollar more unless we absolutely need it, and now appears to be the time for the next one in eight years. We need to update our infrastructure and having tightened our belts as far as we can, this is a conversation we must have,” said President & CEO of CPS Energy, Paula Gold-Williams. “I am personally asking our customers to please join us for a robust dialogue. We will share facts and look forward to answering their questions and hearing their feedback.”

CPS Energy is not officially asking for a rate increase yet but anticipates potentially presenting a rate increase request to its Board of Trustees this fall. Reliability, Resiliency, Technology & Security, and investment in people are key drivers impacting the increased funding needs. Company leaders will share the details surrounding its strategic and operational needs.

Customers interested in participating in the tele-town hall can register on the CPS Energy website. They can participate in either English or Spanish. Registered guests will receive a call before the tele-town hall program starts, and participants can listen on their phone or watch online. Recordings of previous tele-town hall events are available at cpsenergy.com/townhall, along with other informational materials such as recent presentations to the Board of Trustees and recordings of CPS Energy Board of Trustees’ meetings.
