CPS ENERGY EMPLOYEE TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

San Antonio – Texas (May 8, 2020) – CPS Energy has learned that one of our team members tested positive for COVID-19. We were notified on May 7, 2020, the same day the employee was tested. We remain supportive of our employee and the employee’s family members.  The affected employee is recovering at home. Personal information, including specific health data, will not be disclosed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

This team member does not have customer-facing duties and last reported to a CPS Energy facility more than 14 days ago. We do not anticipate this development to significantly impact our business operations.

Aligned to our People First foundation, we remain committed to everyone’s safety.  Accordingly, a thorough review of the individual’s interactions with co-workers was completed.  CPS Energy notified the applicable employees and continues to take appropriate actions to mitigate the potential transmission of the virus.

As a proactive, preventative measure, beginning March 27, 2020, CPS Energy enabled more than a third of our workforce, approximately 1,200 team members, to work remotely.  This measure has improved social distancing throughout CPS Energy and across our community.  Our 3,100 essential team members remain focused and dedicated to keeping all the needed energy flowing to our metropolitan community of almost 2 million people.
