CPS Energy crews headed to Florida to help with Hurricane Matthew restoration efforts

In response to requests from the American Public Power Association and the Texas Public Power Association, CPS Energy will be sending several crews and support teams to Orlando, Florida to assist with storm restoration efforts.

Hurricane Matthew is projected to roll near the east coast of the Florida peninsula, with central coastal Florida experiencing hurricane conditions on Friday. Storm winds of 145 mph are expected.

Nearly 50 CPS Energy team members will embark on a two day trip tomorrow morning at 6:15 a.m. from our East Side Service Center in response to Hurricane Matthew’s expected landfall on the east coast. Our restoration team will include, line crews, pole crews, overhead construction personnel, fleet personnel, and safety team members.

The crews may be in Orlando for approximately two weeks.

Media is invited to capture video/audio footage of the deployment tomorrow at 6:15 a.m. from our East Side Service Center located at 4919 E. Houston.
