(San Antonio, TX) – May 28, 2020- CPS Energy crews are continuing to respond to power outages throughout our service area from the impactful hail storm that swept through our service area last night. Damaging winds, heavy rain, hail, and lightning affected power to 29,464 customers at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27. There were 3,130 lightning strikes recorded between 8:15 – 10:53 p.m. Currently, 181 outages are affecting 1,222 customers.
“We have all hands-on deck to safely restore power to those still affected by last night’s storm,” said Rudy Garza, Chief Customer Engagement Officerfor CPS Energy. “Though our crews worked all night, unfortunately, we still have customers who are experiencing a power outage. We understand that outages can be very difficult, especially during this time, so we will continue to work around the clock to ensure all impacted customers get their power back on. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience.”
As of 6:30 a.m., Thursday, May 28, 2020, there was 101 wire down orders related to Wednesday’s storm. CPS Energy reminds customers to be safe around downed power lines and to keep family members and pets away should they come across a downed wire.
Interactive Outage Map Provides Helpful Information
CPS Energy is encouraging customers to utilize their NEW interactive Outage Map to stay up to date on current outages. The new map refreshes every 5 minutes instead of 15, includes icons indicating when CPS Energy crew members are in the area to restore power and highlights safety hazards and potential dangers such as flooding, wires down, etc.
