CPS Energy collects 4,000 lbs. of school supplies for Stuff the Bus

As summer winds down and the school year approaches, our community comes together to make a difference for families preparing for the first day of class. For families who struggle to make ends meet, Communities in Schools – San Antonio (CIS-SA) hosts its annual Stuff the Bus event to collect school supplies from around the community to ensure kids have all the supplies they need to start the school year strong.

The communitywide effort gives our team members and interns another opportunity to provide for the needs of our customers. Along with making sure families have reliable, affordable power, we have a passion for helping improve the quality of life of the people we serve. Each summer, our company enjoys making sure students walk into class with everything they need on that first day.

“This is the heart of CPS Energy,” said Zandra Pulis, Deputy General Counsel & Chief Records Management Officer. “Everybody is incredibly generous and incredibly selfless about spending money on supplies – not for themselves or for their families or for things they want, but for those in our community who really need it.”

Our workforce of more than 3,100 employees and about 60 interns from power plants, service centers and various facilities throughout our community filled up donation boxes with supplies during the month-long campaign. Check out the video to see us stuffing our own bus to deliver to the San Antonio Food Bank!

In total, our team members, interns and retirees collected about 4,000 lbs. of supplies, which will be made available to all students year-round at school campuses in which Communities in Schools – San Antonio serves.
