Bexar County lowers costs through energy efficiency

Local taxpayers want to know their government is using their tax dollars wisely.

So they’ll be pleased to learn that Bexar County participates in several energy reduction and renewable energy programs that lower energy costs at its facilities.

The county participates in CPS Energy’s Demand Response program to reduce energy costs and extend the life of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment. It’s also using solar panels on the top of the Justice Center to conserve energy, offset costs and promote environmental stewardship.

In the last 10 years, the county also has implemented lighting retrofits, HVAC upgrades, and building control systems and has seen more than $2 million in savings. Check out this video to learn more:
