BBQ team with girl power to debut at GrillsGiving
With GrillsGiving just three weeks away, the clock is ticking for pitmasters to perfect their grill skills for the BBQ cook-off on Saturday, November 17. More than 20 grill teams will square off in the all-day competition. And while some familiar teams like Come & Taste It will return to defend their title as the Overall People’s Choice winner, new teams like GirlsGiving, CPS Energy’s first all-female grill team, are hungry for victory. Last Saturday, several of the team members got together to practice serving up delicious smoked meats and sides. The team had to keep their strategies and BBQ techniques top secret, but they were proud to share what they’re all about.
“We wanted to come together and do something that hasn’t been done before,” said Andrea Guadarrama, Senior Manager of Safety & Health. “We wanted to have a group of women collectively come from all different parts of the company that don’t know each other and build a bigger network of women to support each other.”
