Annual Golf tourney to help Brighton Center expand services to kids

Bring out the confetti, colorful hats and collection of medals. It’s Fiesta time! We love to party with a purpose in the Alamo City. We not only have a great time celebrating during the 2 weeks of festivities, but the funds raised by official Fiesta® events benefit hundreds of charities like Brighton Center. The Center provides educational services for children with disabilities and developmental delays.

“For parents, when you have a child with a disability you have that moment when you don’t know what to do or where to turn,” said Kim Jefferies, Brighton Center CEO. “We get to be that for families. They find us and we find them, and then we get to continue with them through their child’s early years and as they transition into public school.”

It’s a busy fundraising season for the Center as they prepare for their 20th Anniversary celebration of Taste of the Northside, a foodie extravaganza with 50+ restaurants and live music. Brighton Center will host the event at the Club at Sonterra tomorrow, Wednesday, April 24. Next week, CPS Energy will support the Center by designating them to receive the proceeds of our annual United Way golf tournament at TPC San Antonio on Thursday, May 2. The funds will help expand their services to an additional 600 children.

“We’re super appreciative of CPS Energy selecting us to be the beneficiary of this golf tournament,” said Jefferies. “These funds are going to make a huge impact on this expansion project. It will allow us to have an art therapy room, group therapy rooms and individual therapy rooms, so we can provide those therapies to kids when they really need it.”
