Adopt a tree, make shade, use less electricity

With impending arrival of cooler temperatures, it’s prime time for planting trees in San Antonio. Alamo Forest Partnership, the City of San Antonio and CPS Energy are working together to get more trees into the cityscape.

Trees create shade, lower ambient temperatures and ultimately save electricity for businesses, homeowners and the community.

Free trees coming your way in September. Check the calendar below.

Several free tree adoption events are planned in the coming weeks and months. And later this season, CPS Energy’s $50-tree Greenshade Rebate program will be back. (More on that in a future post.)

For now, why not take advantage of the tree giveaways listed below? One-gallon native trees will be handed out free of charge at the following events. All you have to do is call 811 before you dig, grab a shovel, and get that seedling in the ground. It won’t be long before your tree is casting a big shadow and you’re reaping the energy-saving benefits.
