Safety challenge at CPS Energy leads to innovation, savings
By Tracy Idell Hamilton on February 4, 2013
CPS Energy linemen recently found themselves with a dilemma – how to safely work on live wires in hard-to-reach places, like over a freeway or a lake. Equipment already on the market didn’t meet their safety standards – so they reached out to CPS Energy’s substation machine shop. Machinists there designed and fabricated a “high wire chair” that safely meets the linemen’s needs – and by keeping the work in house, they saved money. These guys are proud of what they do – check out their story.
